Three goldens and a 3 year old on their best behavior made for a fun session!

According to Jayden, this is her best friend.  So sweet.

Admittedly, things were easier once the dogs weren't involved!

JJ is 2 | Hazelwood, MO

This is my third time photographing JJ and it is not getting any easier! He is all boy and wore out Mom, Dad, Grandma and me during his photo session. Grandpa knew not to even bother. I hope they love action shots!

I love when families want in on some photos - so before we all got sweaty chasing JJ around, Mom and Dad joined in for family portraits.

Every mom I photograph is worried about how she will look in the finished photos. I am the same way - cringing every time someone tags me on facebook hoping I won't have to beg them to take it down. But there is something about a photograph of a mom and her "baby" that makes every mommy look their most beautiful to me.

Oh, Nolan.  Full of giggles and energy, he gave his mom and me all kinds of trouble trying to get him to spend at least a few seconds being still.  As soon as the playground was in view at the park, he was going to get to it!  Lucky for us, only the back of him got covered in mud when he made a mad dash for the creek.

A mix of mischevious and sweet here, befitting his personality.

Look at him go! Must be headed for the slide.

The light was lovely by the end of the session, still I think this one makes a great black and white. Which do you prefer?

These clients make my job easy. Not only are they an adorable family, but they bring along grandma as a photographer's assistant for me! Henry was turning 1, so we split the session between family portraits and shots of Henry smashing his first cake. Here are some favorites from the family session:

The S family | St. Charles, MO

I was fortunate to take Olivia's photos at 6 months and 1 year, and I was thrilled the whole family decided to join in her 18 month portraits. It was a challenge avoiding the crowds and traffic along Main Street and totally worth it to capture this gorgeous family! Have you ever seen a cuter little girl than this with her blue eyes and blonde ringlets?

All About Me {Carrie P}

Carrie P Photography is a natural light photographer based in Troy, Illinois. She specializes in newborn, maternity, child, and family sessions with a clean, classic style. Sessions are available year round at your favorite locations.

About me:

Hi! I am a 30-something mommy and 2nd grade teacher. I grew up in the St. Louis area and I lived in Florissant, St. Charles, and Chesterfield (along with a few years in Dallas) before settling with my family in Troy, Illinois. I am an animal lover and a Cardinals fan.

My personality is easy-going, calm, and patient. Of course I can also throw in some silly to get your little one smiling!

From the time I got my first camera, I loved posing my friends and family and dressing up my dog for portraits. It wasn't until a few years ago that I got frustrated with the results I was getting from my point and shoot. I began to notice beautiful portraits of children and was determined to learn, "How did they do that?" So I read, I asked questions, I experimented, and I continue to learn!

About my photography:

My goal is to create beautiful photography, not Photoshopped creations. I do edit each photo individually and use Photoshop to enhance color and fix blemishes. You can expect the colors in my photos to look natural. I prefer simple scenery and minimal props to keep the focus on the subject. It is important to me that I am capturing your family, your child's expressions, who you ARE rather than taking photos with a generic prop with client after client.

As you consider me to capture your family or an important milestone, please view my portfolio . These will give you an idea of my style. If you have something else in mind, please email me to see if I can accommodate your vision. If I cannot, I am happy to recommend some other local photographers who may be better suited to you.

I hope we'll have the chance to work together soon!
