Look at this gorgeous girl! E turned one year old last fall and enjoyed some cake at the apple orchard in celebration. She was a speedy runner, too, so it was nice to have Mom and Grandma along to assist. I loved her dresses and all the accessories mom brought for her session. And look at that fancy cake! I met up with the J family at the campus of Saint Louis University. They had some locations in mind, and we got a quick tour of the campus while scouting a few more.


C was almost 2 and non-stop moving, but handsome all the while. I love how the family coordinated the denim and checked patterns in their clothing choices.

G is 2! | {Milestone portraits} Troy, IL child photographer

Fall photo season is just about over with the freezing temperatures and snow arriving, but sessions are still available with Carrie P Photography! With the first flakes of snow falling, it warms me up to think back on this July milestone session. The M family met me at Creve Coeur Lake on a busy Sunday morning. We dodged the bikers, runners, and dog-walkers to capture some photographs of this sweet guy who was just turning 2. He wanted little to do with the camera with all the excitement around him, but we managed to keep him out of the lake and all survived the July heat. Success!

I shouldn't have waited so long to share this fun post! Cake smash sessions always turn out sweet and adorable. Baby L enoyed every bite and looked amazing in her crown and her special birthday "one"-sie.


It is nice to get some variety and some family shots in during these milestone sessions, and outdoor sessions allow for plenty of opportunity for both. Little L was so excited to wave to the doggies passing behind me!

My preferred time of day for sessions is about 90 minutes before sunset. The low sun means there are plenty of shadows to protect eyes from the sun (and squinting). And there is an opportunity for gorgeous hazy light through the trees. Thanks for laughing at my fake sneezes, Baby E!

This boy was chowing down on some apples during our visit to the orchard, and he managed to hold still just long enough for a bite or to toss another apple into the basket. I think he had a good time!

Fall was happily busy here at Carrie P Photography. Now that the rush of fall family photos is over, I have time to blog the last few sessions and hopefully spend some time on some personal photo projects, too. December is typically a slow month for photographers, but newborn sessions are available year round in the comfort of your (warm, cozy) home! It is best to schedule for newborn photos during the first few weeks of life. This was my third opportunity to photograph little A - always cute and sweetly dressed! She just turned one year old which is a great time to schedule a family session and capture the whole family as baby turns into toddler.

I was excited when I received a beautiful Christmas card featuring this photo from Nolan's fall session at Willoughby Heritage Farm in Collinsville.

Gabriel {3 months} | Baby boy photos in St. Louis

Sweet Gabe was a perfect model for his 3 month portraits. I love when parents want to be in photos with their babies. Not only will these parents love having photos of their precious boy on their walls, but he will have beautiful photos of his family to look back on.

Olivia {2 years old} | St. Charles, MO Child Photographer

I loved photographing Olivia again. I first got to take photos of this sweet little girl with curly hair when she was 6 months old, and I had the priviledge of taking family photos back in April. You can see those here. The beautiful location for these photos was Herman's Farm and Orchard. The owners were nice enough to let us hang out a little after close to finish up our photos. May have had something to do with how unbelievably cute this girl is!
So sad and sweet, rubbing her bunny's ears.
Mommy and play time made her happy again!
