Making a Change

Clients, friends, followers - I have come to the decision that I will not be continuing my photography business. I can't bear taking down my page just yet. I love to scroll through and remember the families I have met over the last 5 years. I do not expect to return to business in the future, but I do hope to get back to sharing personal projects in photography. And in the future, even if it is not through the lens, I hope I will see those of you I have had the pleasure of photographing!

Family sessions are often a reason for celebrations: a milestone, a birthday, distant family visiting. This session was a different kind of celebration of a special family member.

Meet Gus. Wandering, sniffing, sweet hound dog.

Gus's mom contacted me, hoping she and her husband could find someone to capture their family while they were in town. She explained that Gus is their baby, he has cancer, and they wanted some photographs to help remember him when he is gone. During their session, Gus had a great time, sniffed lots of grass, got lots of cuddles.


I know it will be difficult to say goodbye to Gus when he has had his last walk in the park and belly rub. He will know he was loved.

This is one of my favorite families to hang out with, so I was excited to meet up with them at Willoughby Farm for a family portrait session.


Be prepared for a bit of a walk if you choose this location. There are some gorgeous wild grasses and flowers in the nature / hiking area behind the farm, but there is a steep hill to climb on your way back to the farm. I'd say it's worth the walk!

When your baby needs a feeding, a changing, or cleaning during the session, the best place to be is in your own home. This also helps for sessions involving older siblings. Older siblings can get ready for photos, play, or spend time with Mom or Dad while baby is being photographed. I just met up with the B family for a milestone session, and it reminded me I hadn't shared this adorable newborn session from last fall. He is so squishy and sweet in these crocheted hats.



This little cutie has an awesome big brother. Some ice cream bribery may have been involved in getting this shot!

I know this can be a time when Mom isn't feeling her greatest, but I always encourage parents to get in a few photos. All too soon, your little ones will grow into adults who will appreciate looking back at a time they were too young to remember.

It doesn't get much cuter than this. Twin 1 year old girls! It was a brisk December day, so I met this family at their home for the girls' session. The babies seemed to be taking turns being in a smiley mood, and both of them wanted to crawl right out of the frame.
